Christine Robert-Da Silva received her PhD degree in Biochemistry in 1996 from University of La Réunion, France. Her work consisted in the study of Polyphenoloxidase, the enzyme responsible for the browning of Acanthophoenix rubra, an endemic palmito from Mascareignas. Since 1998, she is an assistant professor in the same university. Since 2011, Christine Robert-Da Silva is the Head of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Teaching Department. She is also the academic supervisor of the students preparing the Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. As a member of GEICO, her work aims to understand the inflammatory response of adipose tissue during obesity and diabetes and to evaluate the antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties of polyphenol-rich plant extracts as new nutritional and phytopharmacological strategies which could help to reduce obesity-related disorders. This work is mainly based on the contribution of PhD and Master degree students.
