Maybe we need new assignments that use AI as part of the process but still demand a human element otherwise we risk teachers making assignments with AI and students completing assignments with AI.

That’s the thing. AI must remain a tool – and it’s a wonderful tool. It’s up to us, teachers, to educate ourselves on this topic and help our students learn how to use AI when completing their assignments. And show them effectively what it means to include “the human element” into their written production.
