In the framework of ENVRI + , two scientists Prs. Thomas Giambelluca (University of Hawai'i) and Alan Ziegler (University of Singapore) will be visiting La Réunion from 8th to 21st of oct 2017.

Etudiante en troisième année de licence Sciences de la Vie et très intéressée par la botanique, j’ai souhaité réaliser un stage de deux semaines sur le terrain afin d’en apprendre davantage sur les projets menés par l’unité mixe de recherche Peuplements végétaux et bioagresseurs en milieu tropical (UMR PVBMT).

Trois nouvelles espèces d'Entosthodon sont nouvellement décrites et illustrées pour l'Afrique su-saharienne. Des indications sur la distribution et l'habitat de ces espèces sont incluses dans cet article.
A new moss record for La Réunion
Une espèce des régions montagneuses d'Amérique latine, Leptodontium stellatifolium, est reportée pour la première fois à La Réunion. C'est une disjonction géographique majeure. L'espèce est ici illustrée et décrite à partir du matériel de La Réunion, et cette disjonction géographique considérable est discutée. Des explications à cette distribution sont suggérées. Une clé de détermination du genre Leptodontium pour la Réunion est proposée.

A roadmap for Island biology
A recent paper, following the conference of Island Biology 2016 in Azores, presents the next 50 fundamental questions in Island Biology, celebrating the 50 years of The Theory of Island Biogeography. We hope this paper will inspire many more young and older scientists to undertake their studies on the vibrant field of Island Biology.

Functional diversity of Azorean bryophytes
Two recent publications from the PhD student, Déborah Henriques (University of Azores) on functional trait diversity along an elevational gradient and the presentation of the BRYOTRAIT-AZO, the first open access bryophyte database for traits. We wish to provide similar databases for the other studied archipelagos from the MOVECLIM project (Net Biome).
