Interests
My primary interests are in the evolution of mosses, particularly the taxonomy and systematics of the Funariaceae. The Funariaceae display unusually high levels of morphological homoplasy due to the repeated loss of complex characters. Hence, much of my work is aimed at trying to resolve supraspecific relationships across the family, re-circumscribing generic limits and explaining character evolution. I am also interested in understanding and explaining the ecological processes shaping diversity patterns within and across insular, tropical montane systems.
